this is the last one, I promise.
Apparently in the 1950s in China, people decided that the birds were eating too much grain from the fields. So for twenty-four hours non-stop, people went around banging tin cans and blowing whistles so that the birds would keep flying and have nowhere safe to land. Eventually, the birds were so exhausted that they died of heart failure.
For some reason I find this really sad.
I'm going to go try and sleep it off now.
